Greetings VA birders,
I took a morning jaunt to Mathews Co. today. I birded New Point Comfort,
Bethel Beach Natural Area Preserve, and a quick stop and winter harbor (tide
was high so I didn't stay long).
Nothing outstanding to report, but of note were single BLACK BELLIED PLOVER
and TRI COLORED HERON at New Point Comfort.
At Bethel Beach NAP, a single BLACK SKIMMER (Juv.), 48 LEAST TERN, 8
SANDERLING, 9 SEMI-PALMATED PLOVER, 5 SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPER (1 AD.), 2
LEAST SANDPIPER, 12 SHORT BILLED DOWITCHER (1 AD.) afforded good views.
Returning to Richmond I stopped at 2 sod farms near Walkerton (King William
Co.). A few KILLDEER (40), 3 LEAST SANDPIPER, and about 6 HORNED LARK were
all that I could find.
