Hello, birders.
I saw a Common Loon way out over the Potomac from the
overlook along the Woodmarsh Trail at Mason Neck NWR.
It was flying upriver and then turned toward the
Maryland shore.
A singing Prothonotory Warbler near the overlook was a
nice surprise. Migrants were almost absent but there
were some Blackpoll Warblers around.
The boardwalk that was in a state of disrepair near
the overlook has now been removed. However, the trail
has been rerouted around the wetland to get to the
woods on the other side.
S. Baron
Fairfax, Va.
