All,
Birded the battlefield today, in and out of the rain. Posting because a
few people wrote me yesterday saying they were planning to bird the Monuments
Area tomorrow. Others might be planning to do this too. All in all, the
battlefield today was a giant snooze fest. Best bird was a blackburnian
warbler.
Otherwise, the trip was not remarkable.
Area's birded today, included: NY Monuments (in and out of the rain);
Chinn Ridge, including Hazel Plain, the Chin Ridge Loop trail, and the entire
west slope of Chinn Ridge; Groveton Cemetery; the Deep Cut, including the Deep
Cut Parking Lot, the woodland trail out of the parking lot to the Deep Cut
Loop Trail over to Groveton Road (at the trailhead for the Unfinished
Railroad), and back again to the Deep Cut Parking Lot; Battery Heights; Stuart
Hill;
Brownsville; Sparrow Alley; both sides of Young's Branch, and Rock Road from
Route 29 to Portici.
