I birded at the New York monuments section of Manassas Battlefield Park
this morning (Monday 07May) from 7:30 to 9:00 AM. It was beautifully
clear, 45 degrees F, with only a light breeze - quite a relief from
yesterday's gale.
I was particularly looking for warblers. I found some variety of
resident birds, but there was not a single non-resident migrant in sight
or sound. Only one warbler species - I'll bet you can guess which one.
In general it was very quiet, both at the parking lot, the road leading
in from Lee Highway / Route 29, the bridge at the stream, and the woods
beyond the bridge.
<>Maybe yesterday's hurricane blew all the migrants 100 miles away from
here? Complete list follows.
