The season's first Louisiana Waterthrush was singing here at our place about
6:30 this Easter morning.
Several Purple Finch, Fox Sparrows, many White-throated Sparrows, Juncos,
Cardinals, Mourning Doves, House Finch, Goldfinch and Song Sparrows frequent
the feeders. Pine Warblers are singing. Downy, Hairy, Red-bellied and
Pileated Woodpeckers are around. Two Hermit Thrush and a Winter Wren which
have been here since November are still around. Occasionally, both Kinglets
and Brown Creepers are seen. Carolina Chicadees, Carolina Wrens and Titmice
are building nests. Bluebirds are singing and looking in nest boxes. Wood
Ducks are looking in tree hollows. The Red-shouldered Hawks are nesting near
the house and are in the second week of incubation. Barred Owls are calling
again after the winter quiet period.
Good birding around here!
