[va-bird] Loudoun County Bird Walks & Survey, May 8

On the second Saturday of May (the 8th this year) the Loudoun Wildlife
Conservancy sponsors a bird count and bird walks throughout the County to
celebrate Migratory Bird Day. We would like to invite anyone who is interested
to join us for an hour or the entire day, for a walk or to do an area for the
survey.
We sponsor several bird walks at 8:00 a.m. and an all-day bird survey
throughout Loudoun County. At this time we have walks scheduled at:
- Horsepen Preserve in eastern Loudoun along the Potomac River & west of
Algonkian Regional Park. This walk is led by Bruce Hill & will meet at the
Parkway pool parking lot off of Algonkian Parkway, opposite the intersection of
Algonkian Pkwy and Westmoreland Boulevard, in the Countryside subdivision.
This is just east of Algonkian Elementary School, which is a good landmark.,
- Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve in central Loudoun at the Visitor Center. This
walk(s) is led by Andy Rabin & will meet at the visitor center (directions can
be found at www.bansheereeks.org)
- the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship in northwestern Loudoun
County. This walk is led by Jon Little & will meet at the Neersville Fire
Volunteer Fire Dept. Station on Harpers Ferry Road.

We are also considering scheduling walks at Morven Park and Ball's Bluff.

We still need several survey leaders for the rest of the county.

If you are interested in a walk or participating in the survey or need
additional information please let me know by May 5.

Thanks, Joe Coleman
