The nighthawk aerial team had a good sized audience at Tysons last night.
The NVBC field trip was there when I arrived at about 8:20. The nighthawks
showed up in substantial numbers right after the lights went on at 8:30.
Various estimates had the number of birds at 70 or more. It was a very nice
show. As usual they started out low over the buildings, and by 9:00 -9:30
had spread out over a much larger area and gotten up quite high. I also saw
several folks who seemed not to be with the NVBC group. Nice to have some
company. I am usually there almost alone. As the weather seems to be
stable, i assume there will be a bunch of birds again tonight. It will be
interesting to see how may remain after this cold front on wednesday. Stay
