Sometime in early November, a Japanese government official who works with
wetlands conservation will be visiting the US Fish and Wildlife Service HQ
where
my wife works. He has indicated an interest in visiting some of our local
wetlands and seeing birds. We don't know if he is a hard-core birder, but is
apparently at least interested. He will have only one day, so the geographic
area
is limited to the DC metro area and especially northern Virginia. At this
point logistics have not been worked out, but either my wife or I (or both)
will
probably take him around. We know the local wetlands and birds to some
extent, but don't actively bird here much. Absent other information, I would
like
to aim for a large species list (vs.rare or hard-to-find species) and a
relatively casual outing. Given his professional interests, we would also like
to be
able to show him a diversity of local wetland types. We would appreciate any
suggestions. You may send them directly to me at birdconsv@xxxxxxx. Thanks in
advance for your assistance.
