Subject: Loggerhead Shrikes at Sky Meadows SP. Fauquier Co

Sorry for the late posting, but Laura Weidner reported to me that she and another birder saw three Loggerhead Shrikes at Sky Meadows on the horse trail close to the parking lot last Thursday (7/13) morning. One was an adult, one was a juvenile & the 3rd was flying away so couldn't be id'd by age.

This is the spot they have been seen lately & is on the east side of Rt. 17.

Warblers in Waterford area, Loudoun Co

A friend, Nicole Hamilton, President of the Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy, has agreed to let me post that she had two species of warblers, a BLACK AND WHITE WARBLER and a HOODED WARBLER, interacting around her feeders on Saturday, July 15. She lives a couple miles north of Waterford in Loudoun County. She got a great photo of the Black and White but the Hooded got away before she could get a photo of it.

On Sunday, July 16. she and Laura Weidner observed two AMERICAN REDSTARTS (both were yellowstarts) around her feeders.

Nicole lives on a predominantly wooded lot with a large stream flowing through and along the edge of her property and she "gardens for wildlife" around her house and the woods are natural.
