At the risk of putting up some "Bigfoot" type photos, here are the best photos
from this morning's sparrow - who knows if anyone will be able to confirm what
I saw. But, after looking at him for a good 2 hour span, I'm 100% sure it's a
Lincoln's Sparrow:

To add to the morning, a Pileated came and "sang" to me as well. Yellow-rumps
were around, I think I spotted a female Common Yellowthroat (my first female),
and I saw another "Bigfoot" sighting of what I guessed might have been a
Blackpoll Warbler, but don't quote me on it!
I would've paid a hundred dollars to have an experienced birder with me this
morning to help me figure out all that was around!
I hope the sparrow comes back this evening and tomorrow - thank goodness I'll
finally be around this weekend to birdwatch!!!

At 6:30am this morning in my backyard, I spotted a sparrow that surely was
not
a Song Sparrow.
It had a brown and grey streaked head. At first sighting, I thought that it
didn't have an eye ring - but, if it did have one, it was very slight. What
really struck me was the short tail (I might have thought it was a House
Wren,
except I knew it was a sparrow!).
The second thing that struck me when I got a better look at it was its
coloring! Its sides were beige and it certainly was more streaked on its
breast than a Song Sparrow. Its back was much more boldly colored than most
sparrows I'm used to - it had a lot of rich browns.
Might this really have been a Lincoln's Sparrow!?
