Dear all
I had at least 15 Lesser Black-backed Gulls at the landfill on a short trip
this afternoon: I counted 6 x1W, 2X2W , 1X3W and 6 adults but may well have
missed some and suspect the total could be as high as 20. This is a lot more
than I've seen there before so suspect it represents a passage through the area
from birds that wintered further south, on their way back to their breeding
grounds (in Iceland?). The 3rd winter was a different bird from the 3rd winter
seen last week.
I didn't see any white-winged gulls but clearly there is a lot of turnover at
this site at the moment and a lot of birds passing through.
