VA BIRDers,

A quick note on Lee SP Sunday.  Winds from the south, a bit chilly.  In
addition to the typical species this time of year (gold and ruby kinglets,
sapsuckers, Dendroica Coranada, etc) I managed to dig up one Blackpoll Warbler,
one Lincoln Sparrow, and one Indigo Bunting.

Julie Metz was a bit better - 3 Lincoln's in one bush (the easternmost cell), a
couple of Indigo's, Common Yellowthroat, Palm and an Orange-crowned Warbler
working the willow trees in the Neabsco marsh (viewed from the duck blind
shelter).

I viewed Belmont Bay from the marina near the mouth of Occoquan Cr and noted 24
American Coots, 9 Caspian Terns, and 36 Forster's Terns plus several hundred
Canada Geese.  I could see some divers distantly on the bay, so I traveled to
the Mason Neck SP overlook and spotted 20 Lesser Scaup in the middle of the bay
and 120 Ruddy Ducks up against the northern edge.  Plus the usual Bald Eagles.

Later that afternoon, I was assisting Lara Bainbridge's preparation for the owl
prowl next Saturday at Pohick Park (Fairfax Audubon field trip).  We noted a
couple of Pine Warblers, a Common Yellowthroat and Winter Wren in the woods.
Most of the ducks (all the usual dabblers) were in Accotink Bay (Fort Belvoir)
but 30 or so Gadwall were near the mouth of Pohick Creek.
