I snuck out again for a few hours on Sunday, getting to the park at about 6.
It was just getting light, so I decided try a little owling. Apparently, I
was convincing enough, as I distant barred owl responded to my hooting at the
first parking lot past the booth, and 2 screech owls responded to whistling
at Freestone Point.
Daybreak did not bring on a wave of migrants. An hour and a half resulted in
one small flock of parulas and gnatcatchers. But as I was beginning to
despair, I came across a good flock on the road below the ruins. The best
bird was a blue-winged warbler.
Migrants follow:
Caspian tern 1
Forster's tern 1
great crested flycatcher 1
pewee 2
gnatcatcher 5
white-eyed vireo 1
parula 8
B&W 1
Canada warbler 1
magnolia 1
redstart 2
blue-winged warbler 1
Baltimore oriole 1
I also saw two warblers other than those above, but was not able to ID.
