A cooperative Warbling Vireo singing up a storm near the boat launch and
three American Pipits grazing in a nearby grassy area were the highlights at
Leesylvania State Park this morning. The dominant species there--Yellow-rumped
Warblers ubiquitous in all areas of the park we birded.
Earlier on Cockpit Rd., despite the dense fog which still had not lifted by
9:00 AM, we managed to identify twelve species of warblers mostly by song, a
little frustrating because their plumages, not their songs, at least for me,
are their great appeal.
