Hello all
With the snow coming down steady today I decided to check out what the Horned
Larks were up to in the Stuarts Draft area . So after work I drove over to Rt .
652 where I saw a large flock of about 175 + Horned Lark's feeding in one of
the fields close to the road . In this flock I found two Lapland Longspur's to
start with but moving my binoculars I noticed a group of ten Lapland's feeding
on some weed stalks . By the time I had surveyed the whole flock of Horned
Lark's , I had counted 20 Lapland Longspur's . By then a farm tractor came by &
all had taken flight . So I took off to check out Rt . 635 next to the Target
Plant . Here I found a flock of about 130+ Horned Lark's & this flock had at
least 3 Lapland Longspur's . So in the Stuarts Draft area I had 305 + Horned
Lark's & 23 + Lapland Longspur's . Odd enough no signs of Pipit's or Snow
Bunting's .
After that I went home & started to count the birds at my feeders & to compare
I also counted the birds at my mothers house . Below is a list of what I got (
My count is first & my mothers is second ). To let you all know I live in the
city not to far from Montgomery Hall Park & my mother lives in the County.
