Howdy all,
The last three day have been actually very uneventful at the banding station.
Numbers of Yellow-rumps in the area are low so our overall totals for the day
are all low as well. However, on the brighter side, we caught our 100th species
today! Early this afternoon we caught a female Purple Finch that pushed us to
the century mark. I don't have all the numbers from year past here, but this is
the first 100 species year since at least 1990. We still have a month to go, so
I am expecting a few more yet for the year! It's been a very good year here.
Sparrows are starting to show up in good numbers.

It would be nice to see a return of the yellow-rumps. This is the time of year
we should be catching 200-300 birds, not sub 100. Sure hope it all changes
soon!!

Cheers,
Jethro Runco
