Howdy all,
The winds finally stopped blowing today but of course the number of birds in
the area was lower today. We managed to catch a few however, including our
second Prothonotary Warbler of the season! It was a beautiful hatch year male.
This is the first time we have banded two PROW in the same year dating back to
at least 1994! We also banded a Yellow-billed Cuckoo (number 4 for the
season). The ten year high is 10 set last year, so we are off to a great start
for them.
Today's totals:
Redstart 2
C. Yellowthroat 2
Traill's Flycatcher 1
Prothonotary 1
N. Waterthrush 1
Red-eyed Vireo 2
Ovenbird 1
Veery 2
Carolina Wren 2
Downy Woodpecker 1
Yellow-billed Cuckoo 1
Total 16
Looks like rain is in the forecast. I hope it just rains tonight and is done,
or takes a break, in the morning.
Hope to see you all at the banding station.
Cheers,
Jethro
