Howdy all,
Well once again, birds were around in good numbers this morning. Although
species count and overall numbers were lower than yesterday, we still managed
to capture 162 birds of 21 species. The day was dominated by Gray Catbirds,
Redstarts, and Swainson's Thrushes. The highlight of the day was the capture of
a Yellow-billed Cuckoo and a BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO on the last run of the day!!!
What a way to compare the two!! Only two other Black-bills have been caught
since 1996! And if that was not enough, we also caught a female Hooded Warbler
on that run too. As a side note, we caught our first Ruby-crowned Kinglet of
the season too. Is winter that far away?
The outlook is good for the next couple of days if the wind stays down. I do
hope this momentum is carried through the weekend so we have birds for the
birding festival! Everyone is coming right??
Here is the breakdown.
