[va-bird] Kiptopeke banding 9/27:E.Screech-owl, Cooper's Hawk

Howdy all,

Today started out with a bang but it wasn't the numbers that were the bang.
We caught our first EASTERN SCREECH-OWL and COOPER'S HAWK of the season on the
first net run of the morning. After that, it was pretty much a slow day. It
was a bit surprising not to have more birds around today. After all the
thrushes
yesterday, we caught none today. Catbirds were the same. We caught 110
yesterday and only 5 today. Pretty much everything cleared out. So we only
banded a
total of 34 today.
Sure hope tomorrow is a bit better!

Here are the totals for the day 9/27:

American Redstart 6
Western Palm Warbler 1
Black-throated Blue Warbler 2
Common Yellowthroat 6
Northern Waterthrush 1
Ovenbird 2
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 1
House Wren 1
Eastern Phoebe 1 first of the season
Traill's Flycatcher 2
Indigo Bunting 1
Red-eyed Vireo 3
Gray Catbird 5
Cooper's Hawk 1 first of the season
Eastern Screech-Owl 1 first of the season
TOTAL ------------------------------- 34

Looks like some rain and a bit of north wind coming. Hope it brings a few
more birds with it!

Cheers,
Jethro Runco
