Howdy all,
Today was a less exciting day but still a nice day to be out. We banded 89
birds but nothing too unusual. We did catch a BLACKPOLL WARBLER today.
There was no sign of the MacGillivray's Warbler today but the tree removal
was quite close to the station and very noisy. I have no idea if the bird is
going to hang around or not but the habitat looks quite good. Not sure what
this
approaching front is going to do with this bird or other birds. Guess that's
the fun of birding!
Here are the totals for the day. 9 Nov:
Golden-crowned Kinglet 4
Brown Creeper 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler 32
Yellow Palm Warbler 1
Blackpoll Warbler 1
Field Sparrow 3
Chipping Sparrow 1
Swamp Sparrow 9
Song Sparrow 15
White-throated Sparrow 12
Eastern Towhee 1
Slate-colored Junco 1
Hermit Thrush 2
Gray Catbird 1
Northern Cardinal 2
American Robin 2
Sharp-shinned Hawk 1
TOTAL ------------------------------- 89
The tree cutting is done now so the park is more open to trail walkers.
However, there is going to be a deer hunt on the park this Friday and Saturday
and
so the South end of the park will be closed.
Cheers,
Jethro Runco
