Howdy all,
It was a much slower day today at the banding station but we still managed to
catch a few birds and one new species for the season. The weather was quite
cold in the morning with our first nice frost of the season. It warmed up and
turned out to be a nice day. We have ten days left of the season so I am
hopeful that the bird numbers remain high for another week plus.
We caught our first FOX SPARROW of the season today, so our season total for
species is now standing at 101 species! Second year in a row that we have
caught over 100 species!
Here are the totals for the 12 Nov:
Golden-crowned Kinglet 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler 9
Yellow Palm Warbler 1
Field Sparrow 6
Swamp Sparrow 4
Song Sparrow 11
White-throated Sparrow 20
Fox Sparrow 2 first for the season
Slate-colored Junco 1
American Goldfinch 2
Hermit Thrush 10
Gray Catbird 1
Northern Cardinal 1
American Robin 1
Blue Jay 1
Sharp-shinned Hawk 2
TOTAL ------------------------------ 74
