Howdy all,
Well we didn't quite catch the number of birds I was hoping for today. The
first net run kind of set the tone for the day. At run we caught 6 birds, of
with we were able to band just one! The other five were recaptures. All said
and done, we banded 11 individuals today. The scary thing is that we had 14
recaptures! I guess all the sparrows have found their wintering grounds! Pretty
ugly when you have more recaptures than new birds.
So that means we need 20 birds tomorrow to break 7,000 for the season. AND
tomorrow is our last day banding, oh how I hope the weather is good and there
are new birds around!!
Here's today's breakdown:
Song Sparrow 5
Swamp Sparrow 1
Fox Sparrow 1
White-throated Sparrow 1
Hermit Thrush 1
Northern Cardinal 1
Sharp-shinned Hawk 1
TOTAL ---------------------- 11
Cheers,
Jethro Runco
