Howdy all,
It was a beautiful day to be out banding this morning. The wind was light and
the sun came out. Made for a very pleasant day. We managed to band 183 birds
today with a great showing of sparrows. Including our first Vesper Sparrow of
the season and first one since 1999. And for a change, yellow-rumps didn't even
make up half the total!
Hope the next few days are very similar to today.
Totals for the day:
Yellow-rumped 81
Golden-crowned Kinglet 22 first big push of the season
Ruby-crowned 4
Brown Creeper 1
E. Phoebe 1
A. Goldfinch 1
House Wren 1
Hermit Thrush 17 highest day so far
Gray Catbird 1
Sharp-shinned Hawk 1
SPARROWS
Slate-colored Junco 8
E. Towhee 2
Field 4
Chipping 3
Vesper 1 first of the season, #101, first
since 1999
Swamp 6
Savannah 1
Song 18
White-throated 10
TOTAL --------------------- 183
Cheers,
Jethro
