Howdy all,

It was a slightly slower day that the banding station today. We managed to
band 219 birds in the eight hours we were there. The most common bird was again
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER but the big surprise was the lower numbers of GRAY
CATBIRDS. We only banded 27 of them today, the lowest total since the 12th. We
banded 24 species today including our sixth(!!) COOPER'S HAWK. There were no
major
flights of anything but a nice little mix of birds.

Here is the totals for 10/18:

Golden-crowned Kinglet    2
Ruby-crowned Kinglet       4
Northern Parula                1
American Redstart            1
Nashville Warbler              1
Western Palm                  5
    Yellow Palm                3
Black-throated Blue          11
Yellow-rumped                 126
Black-and-white                 2
C. Yellowthroat                  4
Ovenbird                            4
Field Sparrow                     6
Song Sparrow                     3
Swamp Sparrow                 2
House Wren                       2
Red-breasted Nuthatch        1
Eastern Phoebe                  2
Red-eyed Vireo                   1
Hermit Thrush                     5
Swainson's Thrush              2
Wood Thrush                      1
Gray Catbird                      27
Brown Thrasher                   1
Cooper's Hawk                    1

TOTAL  ------------------------    219

It was a beautiful day today. Maybe it was too nice!
Keep the birds a comin'!

Cheers,
Jethro Runco
