Hola Birders,
Kiptopeke was a great place to be today. There was a tremendous passerine
fallout in the morning and by afternoon we were seeing our first signs of a
Merlin and Sharpie movement for the season. Osprey numbers were slightly down
from yesterday and Kestrel and Merlin numbers were up. Here's the breakdown:
OSPR: 28
NOHA: 6
SSHA: 16
COHA: 8
BWHA: 1
AMKE: 73
MERL: 48
Total: 180
Harriers were the early risers today. Kestrels started early too followed by
our Sharpies. Midway though the Sharpies, Osprey numbers turned on and the
Merlin's closed out the day with a sweet evening flight. 15+ Common Nighthawks
finished things up as the sun set. Hope to see you all tomorrow!
Good Day and Good birding,
-Sam Stuart
ps: Several observers witnessed a movement of Green Herons both early this
morning and at dusk.
