Hola Birders,
Today held a nice little flight mainly composed of American Kestrels. This
species sure does seem to be making a better early season move compared to
last year. However, we still hope to see many many more as their numbers
have declined for several years across the Atlantic Coastal Flyway. Also of
note, Sharp-shinned Hawks and Merlins are starting to hit the Eastern Shore.
The next good cold front is sure to bring in a good movement of these two
species.
Also of note this week was the appearance of at least 1 Connecticut Warbler
that was well seen from the hawkwatch as it sat atop a cut branch surveying
my activity. Nice!
