Hello VA-Birders,
For those interested, I have provided the day's list of birds found by the
NVBC Wandering Siskins (Gaskill, Ribaudo, Rieger, Keller). It is a new record
for the KC and a new September Big Day record for Virginia. If you see a
species on the list and you want location information, I would be happy to
provide it.
Of course, for those of you who feel that big days and listing are of no
benefit to birds or that the concept is somehow contrary to good birding
ethics, please remember that the KC is an event that serves as a primary annual
fundraiser for the Coastal Virginia Wildlife Observatory. It is also a great
way to achieve a snapshot of the species diversity found in a given area at the
time. All of our sightings were loaded into Cornell Lab of Ornithology's
eBird. Find info on the CVWO here: www.cvwo.org
Please consider making a contribution to the CVWO if you have not done so
already. You will become a member, receive newsletters and other information,
and be contributing to the welfare of birds and other wildlife on Virginia's
Eastern Shore. Please contact me offline or the CVWO directly to make a
donation! They need your support.
