Hello All,
Another year has gone by for the Kiptopeke Challenge. Again for us, The
Wayward First Landing Loons, it was another challenging but exciting day to
be in the field. Hot, humid weather with a south wind all day was not very
good for migration but we had some good birds anyway.
Our best sightings were 1 Warbling Vireo, 1 Yellow billed Cuckoo and 2
Northern Waterthrushes. The pond on Ramp Rd was very low producing a small
mud flat which gave us all our shore birds. Total species found was 67
which I believe is our best of our 3 years doing the Challenge.
We also had an impressive butterfly list which I will send to anyone
interested when I get it all put together.
