Howdy all,
The past three days have been rather disappointing as far as bird numbers go.
And today was the pits. We only banded nine total birds today. This is by far
the lowest number I can recall for late Oct the last three years. Sure hope it
picks up! I am hoping with this front forecasted that a large batch of birds
will be tucked in behind it.
On a better note, we caught our 102nd species on the 28th. A Fox Sparrow gave
us all a smile. Also Song Sparrows have been in big numbers at the park this
year. We are already at a ten year high and we still have three weeks plus to
go! Over all, sparrow numbers look good.
Totals for 10/28:
Golden-crowned Kinglet 6
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 4
Yellow-rumps 42
Field Sparrow 2
Swamp Sparrow 6
Song Sparrow 6
