Howdy all,
The past two days of banding have been a little slow but we did manage to catch
a few birds. We banded 34 on Thursday and 25 today. The wind today shut us down
a little after noon. During the last two days, we caught four new species for
the season.
Although the numbers have been lower, we still had quite a few good species.
Yesterday we caught two Wood Thrushes (never a common capture here) and a
Chestnut-sided Warbler. Today we finally caught a Red-breasted Nuthatch (many
around this past week). An interesting note, this is the first time in the last
eleven years that we have caught a RBNU on and even numbers year! The streak is
over! Other good birds today include a great looking Cedar Waxwing and a
getting-late Yellow Warbler.

If the wind stays out of the east tomorrow, I would expect lower numbers yet
again. Rumor has it a cold front is coming. I hope it is true! This is the best
time of the fall to find just about anything!

Hope to see you all at the station!
Cheers,
Jethro
