Howdy all,
Today was a slow but steady day at the banding station. The weather was once
again beautiful. The past night pushed in a few more species and increased
numbers of others. The highlight of the day was the capture of a Connecticut
Warbler. And surprisingly, there were a few visitors present to see this sought
after species. Usually when something good is caught, there is no one around to
see it. Other nice captures were a Yellow-breasted Chat and Worm-eating
Warbler. Both species have not been caught in the past two weeks. Nice to see
them again.
We ended up banding 37 today.
Totals for 9/22:
C. Yellowthroat 2
Black-and white 1
Black-thr. Blue 3
Worm-eating 1
Connecticut 1
Ovenbird 1
Yellow-breasted Chat 1
House Wren 1
Traill's Flycatcher 1
Carolina Chickadee 1
Indigo Bunting 1
Red-eyed Vireo 6
Gray-cheeked Thrush 1
Swainson's Thrush 1
N. Cardinal 1
Gray Catbird 11
Brown Thrasher 3
It was nice to see all the visitors today. Glad we had birds for all of them.
It's been a great season so far. Hope it holds for the rest of the season!
See you at the banding station!
Cheers,
Jethro
