Howdy all,
Today started off very very slow. We only caught four birds on our first three
runs. Usually the first three runs catch the most birds. Anyway, the numbers
picked up a bit but the final tally of 27 was a little less than we were hoping
for after all the birds in the area yesterday. It was still a nice day out for
August, so not too many complaints. No real big highlights today but a few nice
birds.
Totals 8/23:
Redstart 8
Black-thr. Blue Warbler 1
Black & white Warbler 1
C. Yellowthroat 1
Worm-eating Warbler 3
Ovenbird 1
Chat 2
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher 1
Traill's Flycatcher 4
Red-eyed Vireo 2
Veery 1
Cardinal 2
Unbanded:
Ruby-throated Hummingbird 2
I hope the numbers hold for the next week. There doesn't look to be any major
fronts coming through for the next week at least so I foresee a slower week
ahead. I hope I am wrong. But still, there is quite a large diversity of birds
around considering it is still August!
Hope to see you all at the banding station!
Cheers,
Jethro Runco
