Jerry Uhlman and I birded JRP from 7:15-9:45 this am. While numbers were low
in general there were a few noteworthy sightings and soundings. These
included 2 male Balt. Orioles (but no tanagers or grosbeaks), Spotted
Sandpipers, an E. Kingbird (not common here), House Wren, 8 Warbler species (
lots of Yellow-rumps, Prothonotary, Prairie - a pair - nesting?, Redstart,
Co. Yellowthroat, Yellow-throated, Parula, and an early (?) No. Waterthrush
well-heard but not seen), and the most intriguing: a pair of Warbling Vireos
which I do not recall seeing in this section of the park before. All in all,
44 species.
