Greetings,
There were a lot of gulls to sort through on the mud flats this morning (ca.
1500) and while scanning the group closest to me, I saw a gorgeous, big,
white gull amongst the usual crowd. It was a very pale first winter Glaucous
Gull with the bicolored bill. After watching this beauty for ten minutes, I
moved the scope ever so slightly and saw another beautiful white gull... a
pale first winter Iceland Gull, much smaller than the Glaucous, with a small
black bill. I kid you not when I say that they were both in the same scope
view! They were both gone by 7:45 a.m. as high tide was approaching,
probably headed up to the Prince William Landfill. Two Lesser Black-backed
Gulls were also seen.
