Hi,
I birded my favourite Huntley Meadows in the morning. Birds sighted were:
Catbirds
American Robins
Pileated Woodpeckers
Bank Swallows
Canadian Geese
Great Egret
Green Heron (2)
Black and White Warbler
Carolina Chickadee
Tufted Titmouse
Northern Flicker (3)
American Goldfinch
Red Winged Blackbird
and 2-3 peeps in the far distance.
Pileated Woodpeckers were very vocal. Atleast 2 Snapping Turtles were moving
around very close to the boardwalk giving great close views. A baby water snake
was also seen.
Then I turned towards Dyke marsh and briefly birded the trail area. This is
what I found:
Humming Bird
Carolina Chickadee
American Robins
Mallards
Canadian Geese
Red Winged Blackbirds
Cat birds
Large Egret
Great Blue Heron
Ospreys
Being tired and hungry by then I did not bird the shores and the water areas.
The Osprey (on a tree near the parking lot) was very vocal. It was making
repeated "begging-for-food" like calls, while another Osprey remined perhed and
quiet on a near by branch.
Another little snake was seen on the trail. A lot of butterflies were active.
cheers,
Deapesh.
