Va Birders,
The Northern Virginia Bird Club kicked off the fall season with a trip to
Huntley Meadows today. 15 birders came out for what turned out to be a good
opportunity to brush up on shorebirds. We had several species represented
including a Pectoral Sandpiper. Also of note was a pair of Snowy Egrets hanging
out with the Grear Egrets and Ruby-throated Hummingbirds practically swarming
around the trumpet flowers near the tower. There are many Northern Virginia
Bird Club trips coming up which are free and open to all. We also have a
meeting on September 28 where the program will be about Horseshoe Crabs and Red
Knots. Download the Siskin from the website (www.nvabc.org) for full details.
