[va-bird] Re: Huntley Meadows Park 121304

Gentle Readers,

Mary Floyd, Mike Ready, and Sy Fishbein led the Monday Morning Birdwalk at
Huntley Meadows Park on Monday, December 13, 2004. It was a cold, windy and
dreary day from 0700 until 0900 on Monday. Of the 34 species seen, the two
Gadwalls, which were down Barnyard Run, were clearly the most brilliant birds
present. It would be an error to conclude from Kenn Kaufman's "Lives of North
American Birds" that the female Gadwall is a plainly marked bird; the female
Gadwall is truly spectacular up close.
