This morning's birdwalk at Huntley Meadows was marked by brutal heat and humidity. Nevertheless, 14 sturdy birders spotted 54 species. The breakfast gathering at a local restaurant that customarily follows the weekly walk was replaced today by a briefing given by Gary Roisum, Huntley Meadows Park Manager. Gary told us of the plans being developed by the Fairfax County Park Authority to restore the Huntley Central Wetlands. This project is in its infancy, and is only partially funded at this point. Thanks to Stuart and Pam Davis for leading the walk this morning while I got refreshments for the briefing.
