I'm sure that someone will send the official report soon. But for those who
are interested, in this annual fundraiser (feel free to pledge even now), the
4 morning teams had 104 species in the morning (not counting the recently
rehabilitated and released bobwhite). I don't know how many species were added
by
others in the afternoon, but I had three additional species in the evening.
Highlights that I recall included turkey and 3 Virginia rails at the back
platform at dawn; peregrine at the Coast Guard marsh; a pair of yellow-throated
vireos and a red-headed woodpecker down Barnyard Run, 18 species of warbler
(including Kentucky, Canada, Blackburnian, blue-winged, both waterthrushes), 4
species of swallow (including bank), jillions of shorebirds of 8 species
(least,
solitary, spotted, and stilt sandpiper, both yellowlegs, snipe, killdeer),
and 9 rusty blackbirds.
