[va-bird] Huntley Meadows 9-28

Ben Jesup and I did our displaced Dyke Marsh walk on the back side of Huntley
Meadows today and we were joined by Lara Bainbridge for a few hours in the
early morning.
Highlights include: (from the marsh overlook):
Great Horned Owl - heard
Canada Goose - 150 (down from 254 last week)
Great Egret 14
Great Blue 4
Coopers Hawk
Bald Eagle - 3 - all before 7am
Red Shouldered Hawk - heard
Osprey
G. Yellowlegs - 7
Spotted Sandpiper
Malard - 8
Wood Duck - 2
N. Shoveler - 1 leading the pack of Malards in flight.
Kingfisher
In the meadows we had the following highlights:
Conneticut Warbler!! (seen by both Ben and I, a half hour apart, as we
chased a mixed flock)
Ovenbird
Nashville
Cape May
Magnolia 4
Black and White 2
Redstart 4
Parula 2
Blackpoll
Common Yellowthroat 8
Great Creasted Fly Catcher - heard
Phoebe
Pewee
Indigo Bunting 4
Towhee 6
House Wren
American Crow - 1 - (only one)
