Don't know whether it's been around for a while, or whether it blew in last
night, but I had long, wonderful unobstructed views of this beautiful bird
at close range, at eye level, in perfect morning light. I've never seen how
green the back is before. It was off the Hike/Bike Trail, to the left of
the platform, foraging in still green vines at the edge of the woods. In
addition to the usual sparrows in large numbers, I also saw:
Fox sparrow 1
Phoebe 1
GC kinglet 7
RC kinglet 1
Creeper 1
Waterfowl numbers are building, but hard to see from this side. There were
some SHOVELERS, PINTAILS, BLACK DUCK.
