Even though I do not hunt, I have to agree with flyfishgrl. I grew up in
Culpeper County when it was prime hunting territory, not a southern
extension of the DC urban sprawl. Duck hunters are frequently contributing
much more than their license fees to saving the wildlife they like to hunt.
Many of them also buy additional duck stamps that fund habitat protection.
If birders regularly put as much money into saving habitat, we'd all have
more to watch. We should be thankful for the generations of hunters who
have helped save the habitat through the National Wildlife Refuges, etc.
