[va-bird] Hunter hunted

Greetings Vabirders,

I watched as the beautiful immature Cooper's Hawk flew from across the
street and landed in my next door neighbor's tree. My eyes stayed on the
bird as it flew to the Tupelo tree in the center of our backyard. It
perched briefly, then its head snapped down as it caught sight of something
in the azaleas on the right side of the yard, under our tall "monster
bush." Down it dove and the azaleas started rustling and swaying. Then
suddenly, out from the shrubs and conifers on the left side of the yard, a
fox streaked straight at the azaleas. The azaleas blocked my view as I
craned to see what was happening. The Cooper's Hawk EXPLODED out of the
azaleas and flew madly up into the oak tree, its long tail flicking
frantically. It stared down at the fox. It seemed shocked. It stared a
moment more and then flew off wildly. The fox looked after the Coop as it
flew away. Then the fox turned and headed down the hill to join its
sibling in the woods.

I wonder if that was the first such experience for both of those young
hunters?
