Appologies for the non-VA post, but I saw 2 Horned Grebes this morning at the
Tidal Basin in DC. One was half way between winter and breeding plumage and
the other was in full blown breeding plumage. Both were within 20 feet of the
waters edge with a constant parade of people passing by. I managed to get a
couple of decent pictures with my digital camera but the view through
binoculars or a scope would have been amazing. Sadly I had neither.
I also saw a Rough Winged Swallow flying around........first of the year for me.
If you're down there Cherry Blossoming, keep an eye out!
