I finally saw the elusive barred owl. It was sitting in a tree about 50 yards
from the end of the boardwalk.
The RS Hawks are on the nest they have used the last 3 years.
There were two pairs of ospreys circling above the boardwalk for at least an
hour. They were chattering away the whole time. One pair has already staked out
the old nest. Could the other pair be offspring from last year? Just rivals?
I saw two wild turkeys on the river trail. They crossed about 20 feet in front
of me and didn't seem to be in a hurry.
Finally, the beavers have constructed a lodge that can be seen from the parking
lot overlook. It's about 100 yards out and on the left side of the open water.
And it was a beautiful day.
