I tried to post yesterday and messed up, and have to
do a much more abbreviated post today, but in a nutshell
the Parkway was closed yesterday necessitating a 4.5 mi.
hike to the hawkwatch which was more than rewarded with
awesome wind from the NW and more birds than I was able
to countas I was forced to hike back out before the birds
were through flying. Today was supposed to be another
wonderful NW wind day that never materialized, and as
a result we pulled kettles out of the distant haze all day.
Below are the results of the last two days with no season
totals as there are a couple of days missing for my records.
Sat. 9/18 Sun. 9/19
OS 12 5
BE 3 5
SS 11 9
CH 2 2
BW 755 1285
RT 7 2
AK 3 1
PG 2 0
UN 1 8
totals 797 1317
At least the Parkway is now back open, as are the
northern gates to loose the flood of birds.
