Another day of warm weather and little winds, and
wondering how many Broad-wings are sailing through
the hazy valleys on either side of us. We (rather I)
have yet to see a kettle of greater than 4 BWs.
On a brighter note, the bigger birds continue to
roll on through, especially Ospreys.
Passerines fell out of the sky last night, apparently,
as there were lots of warblers around this morning.
Two large flycatchers were seen during the day and
one observer thought he heard an Olive-sided call earlier
in the morning. As excited as we all were yesterday seeing
6 Red-headed Woodpecker fly over, imagine how we felt
today as we counted 23 fly over, often in twos or threes.
As a side note, a Parkway Ranger told us that middle of
the past week she saw an Evening Grosbeak at the Peaks
of Otter station.
