[va-bird] Harbor Seal, California Gull, Nelson's Gull at CBBT

Christmas festivities permitted only a brief stay on the CBBT islands today,
but the heavy rain squalls this morning meant that the northern islands'
parking lots were full of gulls, including one first-winter California Gull
(photographed nicely; fifth CBBT record but first of this age class), one
first-winter Nelson's Gull (=Glaucous x Herring Gull hybrid, certainly the
same individual as studied and photographed earlier in the month by Alex
Merritt, Todd Day, and myself; also ph. today), and a jolly tubby Harbor Seal
floating around just off the jetty -- all of these on/off Island 3. Only
four Lesser Black-backed Gulls yesterday afternoon, and no sign of the
possible vegae Herring Gull or the brachyrhynchus Mew Gull.
