Total coverage: 8-12; 1-3 pm;
Wind: North less than 1km/h increasing to 1-5km/h; by 2 p.m. wind
switching between N to variable on upper level winds and increasing to
6-11km/h;
Temp: 11c>12.5c (cold enough for snow and sleet!
Humidity: 41% > 55% bringing snow and sleet bouncing off pavement between
9:30 - 10:30 a.m.) decreasing down to 36% by 1 pm.
BarPressure: 1021<1020;
Cloud Cover: overcast dropping to partly cloudy then back to overcast by 1
p.m.
Nothing flying in the morning. Bill Gallagher reported snow and sleet
during the morning. Afternoon there were very brief periods of sunshine
with upper level clouds. Darker lower-level clouds would move through
producing a few snow flakes. Brrrrr....
Raptor Observations:
All it takes is a cold northerly wind with threat of snow to get those
Red-tails going. Red-tails were sailing high in the afternoon, at least
3-4 glasses up off top of ridge. Too high to see them leaning back in
van. Positioned chair in front of van in parking lot and looking straight
up as birds zipped across the sky on upper level winds. When lower-level
darker clouds moved through, birds would drop lower.
Non-raptor Observations:
A single Monarch Butterly sailig through.
Several small flocks of Cedar Waxwing
Predictions:
suppose to be a bit warmer and sunny
