Cloud Cover - mostly cloudy with white puffs and nice cirrus providing
great backdrop
Rain cleared out much sooner than predicted. Early morning fog quickly
evaporated by 10 a.m.EST
Observations:
Bald Eagle - first year
What a day! Pretty much steady throughout the day with good numbers of
Sharpies and impressive flight of Red-tails, some coming through 5 to 6 at
a time.
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Eastern Meadowlark - single bird heading SE through the gap.
Two large kettles of several hundred Black Vulture merged into one black
massive column over the valley

The Rockfish Gap Hawk Watch is held on the grounds of the Inn at Afton, located
on the southern side of Rockfish Gap in the Blue Ridge Mountains, just above
where I-64 (exit 99) intersects with the southern end of the Skyline Drive and
the northern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway, just east of Waynesboro, VA and
approximately 22 miles west of Charlottesville, VA.
